Filtraggio dei servizi di verifica dello status di studente / Filtering student verification services

La Federazione IDEM è costituita dalle organizzazioni della comunità GARR con lo scopo di facilitare le operazioni di autenticazione e autorizzazione per l'accesso alle risorse di interesse per la ricerca e l'istruzione.
Il Servizio IDEM GARR AAI, in qualità di operatore della Federazione IDEM, verifica che le risorse registrate siano di effettivo interesse per la comunità della ricerca e dell'istruzione, e che rispettino i requisiti indicati nelle Norme di Partecipazione.
Sulla base dei requisiti indicati, i servizi commerciali che propongono sconti e coupon a fronte della verifica dello status di studente non sono stati ammessi nella Federazione IDEM. Ciononostante, fino ad oggi la Federazione ha permesso l'importazione di questi servizi tramite eduGAIN, dove sono registrati in altre federazioni con regole più permissive. In seguito a diverse segnalazioni, abbiamo verificato che questi servizi non rispettano i principi di limitazione dei dati richiesti alle sole informazioni utili ai fini dell'erogazione degli sconti, che dovrebbe essere la mera conferma dello status di student.
Pertanto, il Servizio IDEM, dopo aver consultato il Comitato Tecnico Scientifico della Federazione, ha deciso di filtrare i servizi di scontistica provenienti da eduGAIN a partire dal 15 Dicembre 2025 al fine di garantire il rispetto del Regolamento e delle Norme di Partecipazione della Federazione, e per tutelare i dati personali degli utenti della comunità GARR.
I servizi di scontistica potranno continuare ad utilizzare l'autenticazione federata attraverso il servizio GEANT InAcademia --- https://inacademia.org --- che offre la verifica di status di studente in forma del tutto anonima ed i cui proventi sono utilizzati per sostenere il servizio InAcademia, eduGAIN e le federazioni della ricerca e dell'istruzione.

I servizi che saranno filtrati sono i seguenti:

The IDEM Federation is built by organizations of the GARR community with the aim to ease the operations of authentication and authorization to access resources of interest for research and education.
IDEM GARR AAI Service, as the IDEM Federation operator, verifies that registered resources are of actual interest for the research and education community and they comply with the requirements listed in the IDEM Participation Rules.
On the base of the above requirements, commercial services that verify the status of student to provide discounts and coupons are not admitted in the IDEM Federations. Nevertheless, until now the Federations has permitted importing this services through eduGAIN, where they are exported by other federations with more permissive rules.
Following several reports from our users, we've verified that this services do not comply with the principle to limit the request of personal data to only those strictly needed to provide the discounts, which should only the mere confirmation of the student status.
Therefore, the IDEM GARR AAI Service, after consulting the Federation's Scientific Technical Committee, has decided to filter the discount services coming from eduGAIN starting from 15 December 2025 in order to ensure compliance with the Federation Regulation and Rules of Participation and to protect the personal data of users of the GARR community.
Discount services can still use federated login through the GEANT InAcademia service --- https://inacademia.org --- which offers verification of student status in a completely anonymous form and whose revenue are used to help to sustain delivery of InAcademia service, eduGAIN and research and education federations.

The services that will be filtered are the following:
